BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Local golfers will hit the links in Bangor next week in support of veterans.
The annual Patriot Riders of Maine golf scramble is raising money for House in the Woods.
It's an outdoor retreat in Lee for veterans and their families.
The lodge just had its open house this month and already has visitors, with plenty more to come.
Paul House with House in the Woods says, "We have 47 veterans coming for our bear hunt this year, which is our biggest group ever. We have 20 the first week, 18 the second week and then eight the third. Then in October we have six lady vets. They're going to do some bird hunting and duck hunting. It's exciting."
Bill Boulier with Patriot Riders of Maine Chapter 3 says, "We provide all financial support we can for veterans. We provide housing, fuel, food. We have a food pantry. We raise money for Honor Flight for veterans to go to Washington, DC and provide any support that we can for our veterans."
The Charity Golf Scramble is Monday, July 31st at Bangor Muni.
Registration begins at 11 a.m., with a shot-gun start at 12:15 p.m.
