BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Astronaut Academy Camp wrapped up Friday at the Challenger Learning Center of Maine in Bangor.
As part of their last day traditions, campers planted trees donated by Sprague's Nursery in Bangor before their mission.
The tree planting is meant to imitate the one that Russian Cosmonauts take part in before their missions.
Organizers say it's a great real life learning experience for these campers.
"It's not so much about the facts that they learn. For them, it's about coming together as a group and understanding the value of that teamwork and working through challenges, making new friends, and then getting to experience three opportunities in our simulators all in one week," explained Education Director, Jennifer Therrien.
Campers also held a mock press conference, which is similar to the U-S astronaut pre-mission launch.
