Summer Diab joined the WABI NEWS TEAM in October of 2017. Summer is new to the Northeast coming from the Midwest. She was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Summer graduated from Columbia College Chicago in Chicago, IL, with a degree in Multimedia Journalism with a concentration is broadcasting.
Before joining WABI, Summer interned over the summer at WMAQ-TV NBC 5 Chicago as a political intern. She created packages on a variety of topics from politics to the solar eclipse. And she dabbled with the green screen on the weekends with now her mentor meteorologist Kalee Dionne. However, politics is not her passion. Her passion has always been meteorology. Ever since she was in fifth grade she was and still is fascinated with thunderstorms, clouds and everything about weather!
She plans on obtaining a degree in meteorology at University of Mississippi State while working at WABI TV5. Before the NBC 5 Chicago internship she was a reporter intern for the Hyde Park Herald newspaper in Chicago. She covered local school meetings to fun events in the neighborhood. In college, Summer was the weathercaster for her school’s news show called Newsbeat. She was in her college’s Society of Journalists club and improv club.
In her spare time she loves exploring new places, trying new foods, singing random songs that she makes up and spending time with family and friends.
Summer is excited to join the WABI TV 5 News team as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter, and to call Bangor her new home!
